Classification of Limes

Limes are classified into families and sub-families. There are two main families: aerial limes and limes with hydraulic properties.

Aerial Limes 

  • Calcic lime (CL)
  • Dolomitic lime (DL)

Limes with Hydraulic Properties 

  • Natural hydraulic lime (NHL) 
  • Formulated lime (FL)
  • Hydraulic lime (HL)

Lime Standards

All our limes and mortars are designed in strict compliance with current product and application standards in the building industry. French Standard certification is a guarantee of quality and safety. The NF marking certifies that our limes and mortars comply with specific specifications.

  • Our limes are standardized according to the construction lime standard NF EN 459-1. 
  • Our mortars are standardized according to the “Definitions and specifications for masonry mortars NF EN 998-1.

Technical Applications in Lime/Hemp Concrete Framed to Guarantee Insurability and Living Comfort

The RT 2012 Regulation currently in force and the RE 2020 (with implementation in January 2022) are being finalized and will display new ambitions in terms of energy consumption and carbon footprint. In the meantime, these hemp concrete applications are governed by the Professional Rules of Hemp Construction.

Since its creation in 1998, the association “Construire en Chanvre” has been working to secure hemp concrete solutions. To this end, the association has set up a normative and regulatory framework that allows all professionals to build with hemp while being insured.

These Professional Rules for Execution and Work in Hemp Concrete constitute the first and to date the only reference text concerning the use of hemp concretes apart from prefabricated blocks..
